5 Stars: “I don’t normally read novels that have romance in them so I was hesitant when I saw that this was labeled a “romantic suspense” but it came highly recommended so I gave it a shot and was pleasantly surprised. There was more action than romance by far and I would even say that even though the book’s main character is a woman, it suits a male audience well. Skylar is stubbornly likeable and I enjoyed the humor between Braznovich and his pal, Ernie. I’ve read the controversy surrounding this book as far as whether it speaks truth about the house of prayer cult movement in the United States or whether it is purely a work of fiction, and the idea that the author could weave fiction and fact into such a suspenseful plot fascinates me. It’s a great read with plot twists that surprised me at every turn and it’s the kind of story you’ll find yourself thinking about long after you’ve put it down.” WyatteJ
5 Stars: “My only complaint about this book is that it ended abruptly and left me hanging, sort of like watching the Keiffer Sudderland tv series, 24. It’s that action packed but has a great blend of romance and wanting, though it’s way more about action than romance. I was worried Skylar was going to be a needy character but she stifles tears and attacks when needed. She has trouble following instructions sometimes, but that was something I could relate to. And Braznovich is the protector and lover every woman dreams of having. This book is different from anything I’ve ever read because it felt like there was truth in the story, like these things really happen right under our noses and there really are people trying to save their loved ones from dangerous cult groups. My favorite character is chain-smoking Ernie who always has a funny remark to add to a tense situation. I highly recommend this book. It’s suspenseful, funny, romantic and wildly action packed.” Stephanie Meyers
5 Stars: “Great read! It reads fast and furious. There’s nothing but action, well, and a little bit of romantic play but the story focuses on the action, the romance is a sideline thing. I liked the characters and could relate to almost all of them except for the bad guys. It’s one of those stories you find yourself thinking about while you’re driving. It just keeps popping in my head and I wonder how much of this sort of thing happens in real life and we just never know about it. If you like suspense and not being able to figure out who done it, you will enjoy this read.” James Belkin

The story is brought to life by Claridge’s characters, from which she portrays every human emotion. Skillfully weaving humor and feeling throughout, Claridge makes her characters real, tangible and likeable. In fact, so likeable that most readers will have a difficult time choosing to whom Angel should give her heart. We are given deeper glimpses into the Mafia families, especially Angels, with the introduction of her mother, Sophia and her maternal grandfather, Salvatore; both of whom become key players in grooming her for family leadership. Two of the most enjoyable characters are Olga, the doting great aunt with a sharp tongue and a sarcastic wit; and Chase, a wily guy of many talents, who wants to become a made member of the family. They are sure to make you laugh out loud.
After reading Tetterbaum’s Truth, I didn’t expect this book to be better, but it is. Claridge stepped it up a notch and I predict its going to pay off well in book sales.
A five star rating isn’t high enough. Congratulations to the author (S.R.Claridge) and to the publisher (Vanilla Heart Publishing) for another job well-done.

The story starts out slowly and lends itself toward romance, but by the time you reach the third chapter the plot twists into a suspenseful delight for the mystery lover. It’s like a rollercoaster ride in the dark. Just when you think you have anticipated the next turn, you are skillfully thrown in the opposite direction. This is a book that mixes the genres of romantic suspense and full-blown mystery very well, and I suspect will appeal to both groups of readers.
Seemingly weak and pathetic, Angel Martin plays the role of victim well; but we quickly learn it isn’t weakness that drives her, but the mere ignorance of a past she’s never known. When she discovers her true identity, her genetic make-up explodes with strength and the test becomes not one of can she handle the truth, but can she learn to trust her instincts and harness the power the truth holds?
S.R.Claridge is a remarkable writer of character without drudging on in endless paragraphs of description. She brings lively dimension to the faces in her story, painting enough detail for the reader to picture the character, feel their motivation and relate to them as if they were standing in the room. She weaves humor and emotion with perfect timing throughout. The character of Olga, in particular, offers comedic relief when tension is at its highest. Her novel is fiction but you’d swear you were actually experiencing what Angel experiences while traversing the pages. Expect your adrenaline to increase, your pulse to pound and your eyes to widen with disbelief as you try to figure out what will happen next. And you won’t be able to do it.
Tetterbaum’s Truth is the first in a series entitled, Just Call Me Angel, published by Vanilla Heart Publishing. The second installment is entitled, Traitors Among Us, and I plan to crack it open this evening, rendering a review within the next few days.
On a scale of 1 to 5, this book earns 5 stars. It’s an easy read, a quick page-turner and the entertainment value is on a “you-don’t-want-to-miss-this” level. Congratulations to S.R.Claridge and Vanilla Heart for offering a series unique to the market. Readers will love it because it’s well-written, oddly heartwarming, and refreshingly new.
APEX Reviews called Tetterbaum’s Truth a “bona fide suspense thriller and a non-stop ride of action and adventure.” That sums it up.

Traitors Among Us is the second book in the Just Call Me Angel series by S.R. Claridge. After reading Tetterbaum's Trurth I must admit I had very high expectations because I can't remember the last time I finished a book as quickly as that one! Honestly… I loved book two even more! I had the feeling that all the characters had found their place in the story and that, because of the introductions of those characters being in the past, that there was more room left for humor and YAY romance. Ofcourse a high amount of suspense was there too and just like in her first book she keeps the reader guessing until the very end! Boy, how many times can I be wrong about thinking who is one of the bad boys? I can't think of a better way to spend the evening or a lazy Sunday than by reading this book! Reading not recommended during travels on the public transport as you're guaranteed to miss your stop!
Your Customer Rating:
Tetterbaum's Truth is a pleasurable dichotomy of action/adventure and suspense; with a thread of romance worked in just enough to keep tension rising. We follow Angel Martin on a trek of self-discovery where her whole world is turned upside down and every moral and value she ever had is tested in the violent burning coals of Mafia life. What I especially found remarkable about this novel was the authors ability to portray character relationships in a realistic light. She not only connected the players but her audience as well, a task not easy to achieve. I would look for this book to hit the best-seller list in the next twelve months and continue to climb. Fortunate for readers, Tetterbaum's Truth is book one in the Just Call Me Angel series, which indeed means more enjoyment is yet to come. Kudos to author S.R.Claridge and Vanilla Heart. Looking forward to the sequel. Robert Westin - BWM

An Action-Filled Adrenaline Kick
Posted 08/22/11: Rare indeed are the instances in life when the sequel is equally as good if not even better than the first; but this is the case in the Just Call Me Angel series by S.R.Claridge. Book one, Tetterbaum's Truth, introduces us to Angel Martin and involves us on her trek for self-discovery which leads her into the murky shadows of Mafia life. Book two, Traitors Among Us, is nothing short of an adrenaline kick; each page packed with action-filled suspense. The author skillfully weaves the story around each character and takes us deeper into conflict at every turn. This book will keep you up late at night reading and will leave you begging for another chapter in the life of the feistiest Mafia female to hit the literary world. Keep your eyes open folks, I predict you'll be seeing a lot more from this author. Robert Westin - BWM
With Tetterbaum’s Truth revealed and her true identity exposed, Angel Martin tries to adjust to her radically new role as head of the
The sudden kidnapping of her mother and Aunt Olga leads Angel on a path to a past she’s never known and an adversary she is unable to find. When an FBI mob bust against her family is fuelled by administration level information, Angel turns to the other Chicago Bosses for answers; but every trail dead ends and every person is not who they seem.
Racing to save the people she loves most, Angel must learn to trust her instincts, even when she comes face-to-face with the scariest truth yet… there are Traitors Among Us.
Traitors Among Us is a great follow on from the first book. The pace of the book was a little slower with this one but I think it worked well in this book as we are introduced to many more characters so it gives us time to get to know who is who. One of the new characters we meet in this book is Sophia who is Angels mum and her character gives the same feeling as Angel so we warm to her right from the first chapter.
I did miss Olga’s character in this book although she does appear at times in it she was the one who gave the first book the humorous part which is missing in this book but not having the humour made the book seem a little darker and on edge. The element of suspense is back again in this book which gives such an adrenalin rush whilst reading I felt like I had been sitting on the edge of my seat the whole time whilst reading this book! During the whole of the book I felt the same feelings that Angel was having and that is who can you trust? Who is the good guys and who are the bad guys? This is what truly makes it a page turner.
There is a real mix of content in this book including crime, suspense, romance and mystery and of course the Mafia! I love the fact that right the way through book one and two there are no dull, low parts of the books they are action packed right the way through. The book has clearly been left open at the end to allow another book to follow on. I still stand by what I said in the first review and that these books will be made into a film and I am sure they will be a great hit.
I cannot recommend this book and in fact this series highly enough it is a little diamond waiting to be found so give this one a try.

When I started this blog I never aimed to keep the books I review all one genre, but as you can see I am a huge fan of women’s fiction (or as it is widely known chick-lit! ). I have been lucky to have a huge pile of books to read and review and also some have been sent to me to read on my new Kindle! One of the kindle books that I have been putting aside reading is Tetterbaum’s Truth. I have often been sent murder mystery type books and by the 4-5 chapter I just give up so I have never read one to the end. Having just had my kindle arrive I was eager to read something on it so it was time to put Tetterbaum’s Truth to the test!
Angel Martin is left heartbroken as her fiancé Tony tells her he can’t marry her and then vanishes from the face of the earth.
Trying to make a new start in her life she begins running Tetterbaum’s Pub but little does she know it is the most prestigious Mafia hangout in
In a world filled with pretence of innocence and a past filled with iniquity, Angel's life hangs in a twisted balance of deception and revenge. Through an unlikely turn of events, Angel discovers her entire life has been a carefully orchestrated lie. No one is who they say they are and everyone has an agenda of their own.
Finding herself in the middle of a revengeful scheme from a past she's never known and a Mafia blackmail scandal that's already left several dead, Angel races to find answers.
The trouble is, the closer she gets to hidden evidence and tainted truths, the more the crime families want her out of the way. With her true identity now exposed, learning who she can trust
becomes a matter of life and death and unravelling the past is her only hope for staying alive.
Tetterbaum’s Truth is the first book in the Just Call Me Angel series and what a great start to the series. I was surprised how much I enjoyed this with it being a genre I never could get into. When we first meet the main character Angel she just seems like a normal girl next door kind of girl who is broken hearted and so as the reader I found I could connect to her and found that her character was believable. We hope that after the heart ache in her life there are some changes coming her way but we were not expecting the kind of changes she found!
The suspense in this book was so gripping I really couldn’t work out who were the good guys and who were the bad guys and this is what kept my attention. I was sure I knew who was going to come out as one of the real bad guys but I was very surprised how wrong I was!
The story starts at a slow pace until all the series of events start to take place when the story flows along quite quickly with so much action going on there doesn’t seem to be a dull moment in this book.
I think the reason I enjoyed this book compared to the other murder mystery books I have read is because there was more than just the murder cases going on there was many different elements to this book with a nice touch of romance, suspense, action ( and for us ladies the Italian mafia!) how could you say no to that! The mafia element in this book made the story feel more familiar as I have been made to watch these kinds of films with my partner and I know if this book was made into a film it would be one he would want to see.
I look forward to reading the next book in the series to see what is happening in Angels life I am
sure it will be as hell raising as the first book.
I would highly recommend this book which is not what I thought I would be writing about it. This book has broadened my book genre tastes!

I began reading this book not remembering what it was actually about. Boy was I surprised at what was coming at me! After just a few pages I was already so drawn into this fictional world that at times I really lost my attention for what was happening around me in real life. The writing is very fluent and the plot just keeps you concentrated at all times because there’s never a dull moment in Angel’s life! A perfect mix of excitement, action, mystery and romance keeps you turning those pages without even thinking for a second about putting the book aside. I loved the Italian flavor (thank you Mafia) that was weaved into this contemporary story. I sure am very curious to find out what is left in store for Angel in the follow-up novel Traitors Among Us. And did I just hear there is yet another follow-up in the making? Don't lose this author out of sight!
